Bye Bye 08

well, this is it, looks like another year in the books; it's been great, Tracy and the girls have made me a happy home, what more can a man ask for? I was proud to run a marathon, which I have already reregistered for in Feb 09, and will do better, I promise.. it was so nice to get back on the race track in a new car and be ultra competitive, better than that win a couple of races, that too will be lights out in 09..
I could go on and on but just tab back and you will see all my thoughts on those deals, the plan is to see if we can stay awake till midnight! thats a lot harder than it used to be...!!!!!
I hope everyone has a safe & Happy New year, live each day as if it were your last. I did say goodbye to a dear friend/co worker Jerry Fugate today, riding off into the sunset retired to the texas gulf coast, good things do happen to good people, I wish you all blessings and peace for the coming year....

ok- what you've missed!

well I spent the week home with the kids, I'm working today, very depressed over the Dallas Cowboys but lets look backwards........
we made it the final game @ Texas Stadium on the 20th, ultimate road trip, but our hotel had no heater, for 29.00 I guess I can't bitch too bad! we got tickets in section 23 but man we were worried...... upon entering we met a little lady who has had her seats all 38 years the joint has been open! that was awesome, the outcome was no bueno but the ceremony after was incredible, we tried to get on the field but couldn't, we tried to take some stadium pieces with us but one of Irving's finest thought otherwise, when he offered jail, we gave up our treasures! what a cold 23 degree walk to the car, wind in our face, but I'd do it all AGAIN!
Holiday week was cool, had family in to stay with my wife and kids, went to visit other family friday, the girls now have a wii, that thing is fun! went to runtex to get new shoes in anticipation of Austin 09 in Febuary, the dude verified that I did indeed blow a tendon last year but he put me in some good shoes, broke them in with 3.5 miles yesterday, they felt like i've had em for years, i'm cautiously optimistic..
ok, i need to try to get in the groove, trying to compile my 2009 resolutions, looking forward to my church's annual Resolution Run on 1/1/2009.....5K.
I'll share my Cowboy thoughts later this week!

Texas Stadium in Irving, Texas

oh how many times did I here that growing up, countless times, watching with my family, growing up and all through life there have been me and the Dallas Cowboys and Texas Stadium.
I saw a motocross there before I ever saw a game, I remember Kerry Von Erich beat Ric Flair there in 1983, but weekend after weekend there it was; finally in 2006 I got to go!
Now the place will host it's last game tomorrow and me and my buddy will be there! My wife is the best lady in the world! We'd missed it otherwise but she said I should go, this is going to be so cool yet sad. I heard safety Keith Davis this AM, his voice is already quivering, he grew up there in the Dallas area, and he'll play for Dallas in that last game. Think about all the big games, all the players, the history; even the TV show opened with a shot of the hole in the roof.....
we will have fun, we will do it up and soak it all in, we have both been DC fans for sooo long, but when we walk out and look at it again, it will be like losing a lifelong friend. Sad thing is, Sunday morning on the way out, we'll have to drive by the old lady one more time, no fanfare, no noise, just her sitting there silent...... I guess that will be the way to remember her.
Goodbye old friend, thanks for staying with me all these years, I promise, it won't be the same without you!!

colder, warmer, colder, snow, sun

man I hate the weather, I have a hell of a time knowing how to dress....so in the AM i get cool, PM i'm sweating like a racehorse, oh well, least of my problems I guess. been an ok week for me, i'm ready for a break, can't figure out if I have a cold or allergies, eithier way I go on.....
sure do hope to do a little running this weekend, really need to get some races (foot) in her pretty soon, good motivation doing 5k's and so forth, makes me feel accomplished.
hope the cowboys win sunday, big game v. the g men, our poor team appears to be in limbo again but that seems to be when they play the best.....

got word a good ol boy from lockhart is in bad shape, Mr. Red, pretty good soul this man has, been going through some rough times, I'm praying for him......

I'm gonna go check the temperature outside, maybe lose 1 layer of clothing!!!!

be safe & breath deep,

NEW WEEK

I was thinking about something Friday nite, I think I am in the minority around people I know that remember OJ Simpson as anything other than a criminal....
In 2nd grade I learned this dude they called "The Juice" had won the 68 Heisman trophy, I read books about him and his career, the 2003 yards that set a long time record. I remember his retirement as a 49er, I saw his last game when he went off the field. I won a trivia contest one year in middle school because I knew his first name was not Oscar...... we all know it is Orenthal I told my schoolmates!
Then, as an announcer, this dude was such a good speaker, so clear, made good sense, flying through airports, wow!!!! The Naked gun movies, pretty comical as Nordberg...
then 1995 rolled around, and that's how America remembers OJ Simpson, what a waste.

Sunday.... Dallas, c'mon Tony, we're lost without you but man.... put that splint back on! At least we found a hell of a backup running back, and... jason Garrett, use Roy E. Williams!!!!!
Unfortunalty, I got the Fiesta Bowl pick right, oh well, like I said, I said 3-4 losses in August!
But this team shouls be in the big game.

Time to get goin', see what the week has in store for me!!!

onward........

to the weekend we go!!!! looks like it will be a pipe buster tonite, up early for a fun holiday deal @ kp's school........ saturday.
looking for a big day of college football saturday, i decided today that i am going to find a way to get to texas stadium one more time, economically!

so much of my kidhood revolves around that place, so many games i remember, watching with my grandma, she loved Landry..... I finally got to go to a game in '06 with my friend James, I shed a tear or 2 in the parking lot tailgaiting that day looking at that place, incredible.
i've toured the place twice, i swear it is awesome... so, somehow someway we will get there, 3 more chances i think. next year it will not be the same, they've played there since I was born, thats 37 years!!!!!
if anyone has ideas, send them to me... i even e mailed kelly webster of 103.3 espn in dallas about my plan, maybe she'll help, she replied that my quest sounded like fun!

ok, on to the weekend.... my home dsl been jacked up, otherwise tune in for more info..

already cold already

man isn't it???? and only worse on friday. freezing for sure overnight!!!!!!!!

been a reasonably calm day, other than the fact that manly guys I work near are blarring xmas tunes, that shit gets old! ready to get a good cardio workout in tonite and maybe settle in for some ut basketball and an episode of y&r. now that is a combo.
looking towards a quiet weekend, maybe just get some holiday decos up and rake leaves, all my neighbors somehow have no leaves and my house is covered, imagine that.... guess if I didn't work I could shove my leaves somewhere else too! no such luxary, no dinero and no windfall in sight...... but i have a great wife, kids, family and 1 or 2 friends, what more do you need??

back to the grind, hope you all stay warm!!!

keep chillin,

TEUSDAY

I have a co worker that spells it like that...... it sure was cold this morning when I went outside. I had decided last night that if were 40 degrees or higher In would go run this AM, I lucked out, it was 36. Good thing I got in 2 1/2 miles yesterday. Got our tree up Sunday, have another to do tonight, maybe put some lights up this weekend.
I has flashbacks last night of my beloved Houston Oilers, watching the Texans get a MNF home game took be back to 1978, Earl and Pastorini VS the Dolphins, that's the night the nation got it's 1st taste of the Tyler Rose, tore up Miami, one run was like 70 yards down the sideline and Houston won 35-31, Luv Ya Blue! and the Dome was rockin'!!!! ahhhh, the good ol days the Oilers and when MNF wasn't so ghettofied! Do you remember when you put the TV on Channel 24 @ 8 and the game started right away? Now they start that shit @ 4:30for a 7:30 kick, then they jack around and actuall start the game @ 7:45!!!! I don't give a shit about who knows the player better, his wife or his buddy....... start the game! Where are the good personalities, Dandy, Frank and Cosell, even OJ at one time, now....... Mike Tirico, Kornheiser, please, I can't even think of the other, I know he was a QB. And that boo-ya guy bothers the hell out of me.... whatever, it ain't the same, well neither is the NFL Today, Charlie Casserly? the Expert? he built the TEXANS??? and got fired!
Oh well the one positive, Jillian Barbierrie looks better after the kid on FOX.
Speaking of FOX, to add insult to injury, they trot out that ass-whipe Barry S. to announce OU jumped UT.........

back to work, I'm geting too worked up, need to relax.

BOWLSHIT

that my friends is what I call what has gone down with the Big 12 South. Texas has gotten the royal shaft on this deal... I can tell you, if it came down to a 2 way tie with Tech, I would say Tech gets the nod over UT. Just like ou gets it over TT...
I was luck enuff to go to the game Thursday nite @ DKR, it sure was fun. The Horns did what they needed to do and it should have been enuff to be playing in kansas City next week. cooler heads will prevail, Mizzu does have something to prove after gettin beat Saturday by Kansas, and OU tends to jerk off in big games, if this happens, UT sittin pretty @ 3 in the BCS will be in the title game.
GO CHASE DANIEL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have faith, this has been my scenerio all week, we will be ok.
45-35, I still don't understand; this should have been left up to gundy, Briles, Sherman, Prince, and all the others in the Big 12 to decide, not outside coaches and voters, this system sux!

FRWEDSDY

but to me it sure feels like Friday! coolness, a little break in the action for the holiday....
looking forward to football & food, what more can a man ask for??
got an e mail today about doing a pit party @ the alamodome in SA for the monster jam show on 1/10/2009, a little PR for THR and for my race team, lord knows I'm not shy about talking about eithier one of those topix.
enjoy the weather, its nice... I hope everyone has a great, safe holiday... enjoy your family & friends. thats what Thanksgiving is all about!

We'll chat later..
actually, I forgot to mention, i watched the finale of dancing with the tards last night, those dancin' girls are pretty damn cute, Brooke Burke won but I think Bance Lass did a better job, kinda got wrapped up in it actually. I'm glad it ended, I already have one show to follow, another would just make me sit on my ass more!!!!!!!!!

ok... now..

Short week

well here we go again, but at least it's a 2-2 1/2 day work week, haven't decided!
I feel great this AM, did a speed run last evening and my feet/ankles feel well, that's good considering the pain I had been in for some time. Kicked back last night and had a couple of Miller Lites, that was cool.
Looking towards Thursday, pretty excited about the Texas game, altho the BCS is really messed up, we'll be left out. Thanks Tech, you beat us then forget to show up n Norman.
Tony Romo lookin good, RR 69ers win one, we needed that one.
I sure do feel like playing some golf, have to find time for a round or 2 this week.
My deadlines are all crazy @ the sawmill, gotta go... I'll be in touch!
Go Baylor & OSU!

Fired up!!

at least you should be....its cooolld outside, I had a 3.1 mile run planned this AM but I slept in a little too long, oh well, we can make that one up. TT v OU tonite, kinda nice to watch a big game when it's not YOUR team, too much damn stress, me and my buddy Tator always text back and forth during close games about the stress levels..... speaking of that, rmember when Dallas v SF meant something? NFL netwrok showed the 92 NFC Championship between the 2 clubs in it's full length last night.... Reminded me of something a dude told me & James last week.... "I've watched the Cowboys my whole life... Troy Aiikem, Emmitt Smith, Mike Irvin .....", little shit didn't know who Roger Staubach was!!!!!!!
I'm going to the 2009 rules meeting today @ THR today. The A Line Super Stock season will be interesting, I don't see major rules changes, but Cary is gone. Unless his brother Chase comes out and cleans house, we may see 7-8 guys win mains this year. Tight points race I would think, I'm not going to say the 7 will be running for points but it should be tight. Only time will tell I guess, you never know,,, with the likes of Toyne, Krauss, Garrett, Tschoerners, Mathias and all the rest.... it may be crazy. This will again be the premier class in Texas. BUT that's a way's off...

I'm off to feed 2 kids and 2 dogs ..... stay warm & safe ya'll..

The Weekend

not only a great country song by Steve Warner, who is one of the best that has ever picked up a guitar and sang yet tooooo underrated, but a great time to not work! At least not at your day job, and most of the time, not much r&r happening! but I was told by my beautiful wife that it is supposed to stay cool which will be alright with me, pretty nice considering T-Giving is a week away. T-Giving is probably my favorite holiday, it's about being with family, enjoying company, football, eating, maybe a beer, just hangin out. A good adult holiday, like Memorial & Labor Day.
I'm amazed how adults do the holiday deals:
Spring Break? that's for kids, not us. Work & jobs don't stop and me and my buddies do not look good running around shirtless, drunk and tanning at the beach.
Valentine's Day? kinda for adults, at least women.... and kids, they exchange little cards and candy, women get flowers and are taken out to eat, but nothing for a grown up to miss work over, just like a birthday after 21, no need to skip your j-o-b!
Last but not least..... Halloween, man that is for the young ones! Old fat people like me just need to take the kids trick or treating and our part is done..... no need to get crazyand start trippin out dressin up and going to HEB. I did that one time when I was 17, this little kid I knew walked up to me and said.... "Hey Ronny" I had on a mask, and my body had on a suit! That was the end of Halloween for me, if it wasn't for KP & Chlo-Bo, it could come and go and I'd never know.
My thoughts on XMAS will come later as we get closer and I begin to stew and wonder why people forgot the meaning. I can tell you this, I went to the can at work and some station in Austin is already all XMAS songs! Too early, we haven't even carved the hog for T-Giving!!!!

Ok, gotta go watch Y&R, cool NFL game on TV tonight, snowin big time; I love HD!!!

alright! otu for now..

Kudo's

to the University of Texas, way to lock in Will Muschamp as Mack's replacement. And gutsy, nice to see the boys @ the 40 acres do something not conservative, pretty safe move though, I had hoped Major would someday be the man but he does not have the resume this dude does.
So, it looks bright around here, mack is a great coach and saved this program, he would be a GREAT AD. Just my .2, not sure if DeLoss reads this or not!
I'm thinking about #99 today, Cary Stapp has his Gibbs tryout today, peace be with you my man, give em hell!

Looking forward to the holiday, great time to hang with the family and get caught up, take some time off..... and new this year, play some golf. Need to get my poor lonely stix out of mothballs; I wonder if they swing better after some time off??????????????
Stay tuned for details..

Keep your head up & look ahead, a little rain on the horizon, I bitch about weather people, I've noticed they say it COULD rain over the next few days........... man, talk about no liability!!!!

gotta go 4 now,
Keep it real.....

Another Week Begins

and man is it cold!? it fely nice acyually, I need to get my ass out of bed and start running....
I need to do that anytime actually, it's foot race season now!
Jimmie, my man, 3 in a row..... I don't think most fans realize how good this team really is, Jimmie is such a good guy, I'd like to play golf and drink beer with him, I think we'd get along pretty well.
spent the weekend watching football, that being said, I guess I shouldn't complain about my gut!
UT will get the shaft on this BCS thing, looks like to me the mdia wants Bama, Florida & USC to fight it out, tech will fall out and UT will get the left overs, Fiesta barring a hiccup V. A&M , which way yo go guys, lost to Waco!
Dallas; well they turn it on when they have to, maybe a springboard, maybe not, that offense MUST produce more, use Roy, that's why we got him!
Lockhart Lions, 35-28, on to round 2! Geeeezzz, they are starting to scare me!
I had my 1st Turkey meal today @ Kendall's school, then Chloe's this Thursday, I like turkey, it's good!
ok, I need to get to it, stay warm & cozy, and cozy & warm!

peace,

Wrappin up the week

I'll say it here again, ANY VETERAN is hero to me, my dad is one so it really hits home, sure is nice to see these folks get a day observed, it's the least we can do, without them, we'd be as jacked up as some of these other places in the world.
I have a sinus infection, it sux, just throwing that in, was gonna run a 5K in Cedar Park this weekend, I'm putting that on hold, bigger fish to fry in Febuary.
(Austin 2009)
Now, got word THR has a rules meeting set fornext weekend, thats awesome, Mary Ann & H have done such great work keeping that place open, and hats off to the drivers, crew & fans that made 2008 good enough to keep it alive, I called out everyone on TSZ before the year to help out and apparently our work was all good; now we go to work gettin the Sizzlin' 7 better, I wanna kick some ass next year.
I hope my Horns win, and win big! The BCS is ok, but flawed, it irritates me that after all that UT has done it may go unnoticed, altho, I hade to call AM1300 this week, nobody would have thought this would even be possible, I'm the biggest UT homer and I said at least 3 losses. Still could happen but we were #1 for 2 weeks! I hate that with the slightest hiccup, everyone around here starts talkin about Rick Barnes b-ball team. I was @ DKR Saturday, folks were sittin on their hands, people looked at me like I was an ass for getting excited, I don't care if it's Baylor or Tech; support the team!
Hat's off to the Round Rock Dragons, first round playoff game around the corner over here Friday night @ Dragon Stadium, and my old school, the Lockhart Lions playoff bound to Katy for a Saturday nite tilt w/ Huntsville! I'm very proud for all the Lockhartites.
Cowboys v Skins, that's all I have to say, Romo is gonna cut the meat I have a feeling.
Low key weekend for me take it easy get well and maybe throw back a beer or 2& watch the 48 make history!!
Be safe gang, live smart & pray hard!

OBAMA

man what a day! it still amazes me what has just happened, I dare to say that my faith in people could be restored! I am so glad that this man will lead us, i'm tired of all the negative, the US needs a breath of fresh air and someone to lead us, represent us, allow us to take pride in. we have this man now Barack Obama. I am so proud to say I met this man earlier this year in Austin, face to face, shook his hand even spoke with him. pretty cool I can tell my kids and anyone for that will listen. He spoke to me directly, looked at me and listened to what I told him, I was blown away. if I sound like I am completly in awe of this dude, I am, I'm proud of him, for him and his family and or our great country.

we had a great time @ TMS this weekend, found a cool joint in Irving to watch UT, but that sucked in the end!!!!! took in the race on Sunday and Texas Stadium on Monday one last time, pretty damn cool! I even won a radio contest from live 105 on Sunday @ the race.
let's enjoy the day and be proud, the world is a good place today...

THR/TMS

what a bad ass time was had Sunday @ crash o rama! I really enjoyed my job there working with Bobby, Christine, John & AB. I love announcing, when I was young, I had 2 dreams; to be a racer & to be a dj. most kids wanted to be cops, firemen, lawyers etc....NOT ME!!!!!!
I would sit around and record myself announcing everything, doing mock newscasts, sports & weather. I recorded fake radio shows too! My wife said someone walked up to my dad Sunday and told him I was doing ok, he response was " he's been practicing 35 years....."
My car owner wants to sell the 7, he says announcing is a guaranteed paying gig!
Not quite tho, I have unfinished business there friends, thanks to everyone who stopped to say hey Sunday, I appreciate everyone's support.
Now, this weekend, it's TMS! What a fun time to be had, my man James S & I are cuttin out @ noon on Saturday, get to FW and find somewhere to watch UT drill Tech and then Sunday morning it's on!!!! Race day! I bitch about NASCAR, and the same guys winning but man you sure as hell can't beat it real life! Good seats too, a good buddy Rico out of Dallas hooked me up for this one.... I'm excited. I'll take pics, maybe try to blog from there, we'll see tho. If you are going, look me up and we'll swap bullshit stories and have a cool one or 2.

have a good week..

Cary

man what a cool deal for my buddy Cary Stapp, he won the national championship from ASA and Gibbs Racing! A tryout with Gibbs and all the perks that go along with it, and I must say for my man & his family, very, very deserved. These guys do it the way my family and I have done it for years, only with more success! all together, at the track working during the week on those cars, when you see Cary, Chase & Ed are somewhere near, that's the way to operate, my family team sure appreciates the way their family team operates, it's nice to see one thing that has not changed over the years, these guys since the beginning, I remember not long after THR opened, 2 young dudes showed up on a Thursday with Drew Williams' old nova, the father told my dad & I that they were going to this because the new driver's old hobby of bullriding had gotten too dangerous! I remember thinking , oh shit!
well they went on and on and got pretty good but I pinpoint all this success to one night I remember, the second to the last night of the 00 season Cary smashed that nova to hell, or better yet, got it smashed, not his fault, regardless we thought they were done it was so bad. They got that car fixed, he came out the next week and won his first main, convincingly!
I left THR but kept up with these guys and have admired from afar, it is so cool to be a part of this and watch happen to such good people. Best thing is I know Cary, Chase & Ed could go to the most premier racing series and a can GUARANTEE you they would take the time to stop and have a few Miller Lites with the Outlaw team.
Good job guys, you deserve it..

have a great weekend all, hook em cowboys & let's enjoy "The Big One", those guys have plenty of cars!

IT'S A RAP!

well the 2008 season has ended, 7th place finish Saturday nite @ THR, started 7th in the 7 car. i think my descision to make the number change makes sense! we were pretty good, i got hung out, then held up but that's ok, the car is in tact and we can start it and move it around, on top of that we wound up in tech and passed! it has been a very exciting year getting back into this, it stayed fun and relaxed , just as we intended it to be. my uncle Martin Tello who owns that 7 car sure bought a nice horse when he got that thing, i love that car and the car seems to like me too, my daughter Kendall always asks if my race cars take care of me, thank God the Sizzlin 7 did in '08. my dad Ben Rodriguez put together and maintains a car better than anybody, him back involved is BY FAR the reason this team is back running fast and contending, i was lost in obscurity when he was gone. my wife Tracy is my angel, she rode this initial season and was a real trooper through it all, I love you sweetie. to any and all that stopped to say hi, welcome me back and admire the 7, i appreciate you all, it sure is nice to hear the applause again!
we had planned to try to win a heat race hopefully, we won 2, good top 10 runs and most importantly, just being fast and competitive... we hit our goals for 2008.
We'll evaluate and see what 2009 looks like, we're close now, hopefully we can finish the job!

I'm Back!!!

sorry, it's been crazy, I haven't kept up!
What a fun night @ THR Saturday nite; it was fun to lead a feature again!
during the first yellow I was sure hoping the time limit would expire! had a good time raing with Duane Toyne & Levi Krauss, 2 othe coolest guys out there, lost power steering which was ok, but then it turns out I burnt a plug wire, I was sure hoping I wasn't about to hand-grenande the motor.
Should be a hell of a ride in the Spectacular, 50 laps, we're going to try and make sure the 7 is on it's toes. It's going to be a long night!

Thursday 9/4

well i missed Sarah Palin last night, my office is a buzz about her, but its all dudes and she looks good so that may be the appeal!
looks like its football night, giants v skins! i hate em both but i can't wait for the game, its been a while.
i'm not really interested in richmond this weekend, one of 2 guys will win, really makes no diffrence who gets 10,11,12 in the chase, thats where they will stay while the 2 battle and win every race, but i did call 48 as back on track a while back, i hope i'm right but it just has no appeal to me right now.
i finally am back in training, i've been on the road all week before 6 Am, knockin about about 3 miles a day, feels good, need to take care of me and get the wheels back on straight, the 7 is staying parked Saturday still at this point, altho, it is getting appealing!
i'm ashamed to say i picked tatum bell on my fantasy team, what a jerk off!
all is well..... thats the jist

see ya!

IT SURE IS MONDAY....

to borrow that phrase from an old Mark Chestnutt song, but actually it's Tuesday and that is alright.
pretty decent night @ THR for the Sizzlin 7 Saturday, I'll take a top 10. it got kinda shaky at the start, i thought we had an issue and fell all the way back but came up ok, 10 laps more would have worked for me but oh well.... it was good to see our friend Tracey Teer, leader of the "Teerleaders" of Comfort, Tx... shared a beer with those folks, good family team, i can sure apprciate that, Bobby has a good team and i think they are pretty bad ass.
i'm losing faith in weather people, I watched all the hurrican coverage, they sure scared the hell out of everyone, granted, it was bad but they over did it a little..... and then acted dissappointed! oh yeah, Geraldo, you can't drop a GD on live TV, even if THERE'S A PERSON THERE! good entertainment though. one brief word, when people open their doors and hearts, don't bitch and complain....!!!!! i'll leave it at that.

short week, live strong & breath well!!

FOOTBALL:30

its a good time of year, all i hear on the radio is football! again, all i listen to is talk radio, music stations are just a revolving jukebox stuck on the same 10 tunes, but i'll save that for another day..... UT gettin ready to lay it on a JV team, Cowboys tunin up for the super bowl, hell i even have a fantasy football draft tonight. many have told me that as much pain as this sport has caused me, i should hate it, that goes for racing too for that matter, i love them both. golf is on that path, but i am starting to hate that one for sure.
my girls are lovin school, i sure love that for them, i wish i could redo most of my school career, my work life would be so much better if i could, but, hindsight is 20-20.
weekend could get rainy, hopefully we get the 7 on the track, need a good rebound race after the dq 3 weeks ago.
alright, gonna get rolling.. keep on keepin on!

peace,
Rodney

DUTY

no not poopy, jury dury, I went today. man what a show! i feel it is your civic job to go represent, and make an attempt to want to do it! it sucks though, you are on borrowed time and they are in NO hurry! still, its a right!
so there is this one woman, i saw in the early stages of the deal she was gonna need to be exempt, poor thing couldn't sit still, looked like a back injury....... and shit, her husband was sequetsered too! i hope this dude is as loving and giving at home, shit i'd marry him.
sure as hell, she goes up and explains her plight and gets released, BUT, she got selfish, i saw the hubby lip "what about me"??? UH-OH!!!!! he had to stay. too bad, but we all were released after some Q&A, I was honest, the case sounded stupid and the guys fighting was in shorts and did NOT want to question the jurors, why fight? i've tried to fight a traffic ticket, his ass wasn't gonna win.
anyway, i'm glad we have a break coming up, its needed, gonna go do some thr'n saturday.
ok, i'm behing today, gotta go to work!

? to begin!!!

man, I've been out of touch! since my tooth ordeal, I've been out of town, dealt with a jacked up back & had back to school times!
it's actually rained around here, now we have to focus to get the 7 ready, overwhelmed..
looking forward to a golf tournrey saturday with some dip-dongs from my job, My team captain Larry Vaughn is bad ass, he'll carry our team.
cowboys/texans tonite, smells like football, bristol tomorrow, shit i hope this one has excitement, i feel bad for Tracy, seems like everytime i build up a night race for her, we sleep walk through the race, let's get some excitement, maybe throw some punches! and get a winner like mcmurry or montoya or b labonte.......

oh yeah, ain't no way; NO WAY those chinese gymnists are 16, that's a bunch of BS!!!!

down & gone 4 now,

EXTRACTION!

man, what a day i had Tuesday! I had a tooth taken out, i'm scared of dentists, but man that is one wild ass procedure!
granted, and thank God, you are numb, but there is someone pulling, grinding and jerking in your mouth, and in my case, part of it would not turn loose! I never, ever want to have to do that again! made the marathon seem easy, didn't hurt too bad but the feeling while that is happening is like nothing else!
been watching the olympics, what coolness is that; 5 golds already for Mike Phelps, that dude is bad ass, the 800 relay last night was a certifiable butt kicing for the red, white & blue..
I felt soooo bad for Alicia Sacramone, altho I don't think the US could have won that anyway, the chinese sure do excel in the finesse events, anyone else notice that?
michigan this week for the cuppers, who wins #18 or #99, hate to say it, same old song & dance.

OK, gotta go gargle!!!!!!!

SATURDAY

what a crazy night for the sizzlin 7 team @ THR! we had new tires on the car, but we did not try to make practice. pretty useless to go practice 10 minutes on a slick track and sit idle for 5-6 hours doing nothing in the heat. we passed on that and got there later again.
heat race was ok, I ran tough for a few laps and just fell into line to get the tires broke, found out we would be starting 5th in the main.
#7 broke out well, we were sitting pretty in the top 5 then it all got hazy, i thought i was about to pop a motor but all levels were good, the steering was a bitch though, i knew it was power steering. i knew i was smoking but i've seen other cars in my class smoke like that without causing a caution so i stayed out, apparently THIS TIME it was a problem cause i drew a yellow, i hit the pits and came back. its been a long time since i raced without power steering, it was actually pretty fun, i wrestled it to 8th and drew the short straw to go to tech, i'm sure the smoke helped! well....... my car was just a little low, which later i found out i had a left front tire going flat, had that not been the case we would have passed. BUT (there's always one), the #7 camaro was also 40 pounds light. not sure how, we were 60 pounds light a month ago and we put 60 plus pounds in the car, I hate geometry!
it was a good run though, and what a great following we are developing, many supporters out there it seems, and the kids love our car, that makes it all fun for me. one dude in particular, Danny, he's followed me a long time, even when i really sucked, he came over to take some pictures with me and the car, he watched the the low tire go flat! it's funny, i was dissappointed with the results, but after Danny and all the other folks came to see us, it really became irrelevant that we failed tech........... its the other details off the track that really make this rewarding to me, i remember being young and seeing Glen Shwaube, Steve Klestinec then later Terry Brooks & Donnie Moore, these guys made time for me and let me sit in their cars and told about their nights. i always vowed if i ever got to race, i would do that if anyone came around, and they do, so i welcome anyone who wants to see our car or ask me questions, it's good for kids, i'd rather see them checking out super stocks than raisin' hell downtown.
we've got till 8/30 to make our car right, i've told Tracy it;s taco time, ironic, i lost about 60 pounds, i think we'll find another way to get that car some weight!
have a good week everyone, keep checking in!!!

should be be fun to have, i'm excited.
tracy has a 5k tomorrow morning in austin, so bad ass for her; she is going to kick some ass! i'm so proud of and for her! we'll have the 7 @ THR saturday night, sure would like a good run,
i'll give detailed accounts sunday or monday.

what a week, so far..

well, I had to give in, I've a a broken tooth, I started feeling some pain; so after much thought and a couple of "ok, it will be fine" trys, I went to the dentist, guess what? EXTRACTION next Tuesday.... I am a chicken shit, I had to go to the bathroom 4 times while I was waiting! Regardless, it's going down..
I love TV news, but weathermen are stupid! As far back as Sunday, Megan Campbell is telling me about all the rain we're goona get from Eduardo, and yesterday, brace ourselves, could be up to 3-4 inches. I got nothing! last night Jim Spencer says, well, Weds is going to be the day!
whatever!!! My man Troy Kimmell said yesterday on KVET; sorry, we'll get nothing...
I'll listen to him from now on!
Ok, I'll keep an update on #7, should be good for THR Saturday, unless it rains?
hats off to my wife Tracy, doing a 5K downtown Saturday morning for Ovarian cancer, that's bad ass!

down & gone,
Rodney

back on the horse

i took off yesterday on a 4 1/2 mile run at about 5:30PM, i gotta say it felt pretty good to be on the road in the heat. call me crazy but i really enjoy those runs, has to be that i think that is the best way to stay fit & trim. regardless, i'm thinking about the nike 10k in austin on 8/31, depending on happenings, may give that a whirl. i got an email for the austin marathon 2009, i may give it another shot, you heard it here first!
good night to lay low, looking forward to time away from work, hope everyone has a great weekend!

peace,
Rodney

sports

what has happened to pro sports? hearing all this brett favre/manny ramirez crap turns my stomach. i remember growing up, players stayed with the same team, contracts were negociated behind closed doors and it seems like the games meant more than a paycheck!
but, back then there were no x games, all sports weren't "funked" out, all basketball commecials seem like gang callings, all mcdonald's commercials involve hip hop. whatever, not my cup of tea!

i hear ryan newman will be #4 for stewart-haas in 2009, smoke's cars look pretty sharp, altho i'm kinda partial to orange these days but hell i pull for jj!!!!!

going running today in the 99 degree weather, should be a gooden!

stay cool; in everyway!

summer heatwave

i worked in my warehouse yesterday, then went and played golf @ 5PM, man it was hot!
i noticed out on course a couple of water areas that look shallow, we really need a gullywasher around here!
today seems to be a good day to lay low, i think that will be the plan today, get work out of the way and go home & enjoy the fam, sounds like a good idea.
why are people so damn wacked out? a church shooting? the one place that should be a safe haven and this crap goes down, some people are really pieces of garbage...
its time for me to start my regular traing routine, i've been testing slowly, i did 10 miles last week, its all good, need to get my belly back in shape, my hips are expanding!
need to wake up earlier, sure is nice, dark & cold @ our crib, thus, i oversleep.
ok now you know my plans, you can sleep @ ease!

later,

weekend ends

it sure was good to see the stands packed @ THR saturday nite, looked like the old romco days.
#7 had an ok night, second in the heat is good, 5th in the main before i took myself out, dad was ill so i was in charge of set up, thats all i have to say! anyway i got a lot of accolades regarding the 360 on the backstretch, i have to admit i bet that did look pretty bad ass, hey i'm an entertainer. hats off to my cuz Fred Tello, does a hell of a job on race day.. good shadow to have!
9th place is good all things considered, we'll take it and get better for the next time.
Brickyard 400? one word, disappointed, i expect better, that race is never very good but sunday's was pathetic. and it only gets better this week, pocono! i think i'll set up a tee time for sunday afternoon.
looks like its going to cool off later in the week to about 97-98, should be nice, looking forward to that........ also, my good buddy Tracy "REDD" Sommers is healing well, we're praying for you darlin', I have some cold Bud Light ready for you when you feel the time is right. Beer & prayers in the same sentence? sorry, i guess that's ok ain't it?

alright, tackle the world & kick ass,
Rodney

TGIF

well we're primed and ready for THR Saturday nite, looks like the weather will be hot, plenty of time to dry out. should be fun, hope to see many friends out there, come see us in the pits if you don't see me in the stands at some point.
Brickyard 400 Sunday on ESPN, good weekend for racing.

check in on Sunday for my thoughts on Saturday nite's action.....

Have a great weekend,
Rodney

DOLLYgee

what a mess on the Texas coast! Dolly was sure pissed off when she got here, my thoughts and prayers are with evryone down there. I tip my cap to Keri Bellacosa of Fox 7, here report last night was really good and it looks like she had a long stressful day...
Dad found a couple of issues on the #7, kinda explains some of the issues we had the last part of the feature on 7/12, I think we should be pretty good on Saturday, may be a fun show along with TSRS, action starts @ 7PM.
my kids and I sure love our trampoline, that thing is a good workout, already planning an adult party @ some point, I have to remember; I JUST HEALED MY FOOT I JUST HEALED MY FOOT!!!!!
it's raining in north austin, may i forgot what that stuff looked like!
gotta jet for now, gonna go get wet!!!! (OUCH!!!!!)

+++++++++ STEP ??????

as I have mentioned, my golf game sucks.... BUT I went out and played 18 @ Blackhawk yesterday and for the first time took some positives from the outing! I won't go into detail but I'm thinking there's hope, maybe?
Found out today that our race @ THR Saturday is the last one on the card, I hate that but oh well, when you run in the best class, that's part of the glory I reckon, hopefully the Sizzlin VII is hittin good this week.

meeting dsl guy today, maybe my home internet will be fixed!

back 2 it again

what a good weekend, we had a trampoline that needed to be put up for over a year, got that done, eliminating my backyard! man that thing is fun, I love to bounce my kids!
too bad for Greg Norman yesterday huh? sunday sure is uneventful w/o sprint cup racing, even though the racing lacks substance, i sure like the noise, looks like on to espn for the brickyard, good better than tnt at least!!!!
thats about all i have, listened to good church service sunday, about the man upstairs having long range plans for each of us, we all need to remember that when times get tough!!!!!

Rodney

weekend

well it is upon us again and it feels nice to have no firm plan, maybe some selling in tomorrow?
BUT with active 8 & 6 year olds not likely.
that's ok, it's all good.... we are watching "College Road Trip" tonight, I'm actually looking forward to that.
I love being a dad, its the best job in the world, when I see other dad's that make themselves useless to their children & mother's of their children it sure strikes a nerve, I'd give all my limbs for my family, it sure seems to be odd, another, I don't babysit my kids!!! AHHHHH!!!!!!!!
ok, I am certainly not the perfect dad or most responsible person, but I sure do try to do right for my wife & kids, I love them all so much and feel so bad when I let them down in any way at all.
OK, enough grey, let's smile & love strong always!

THE GRIND

anyone remember back when there was time to do things? I don't, it always seems like there aren't enuff hours to accomplish the day's tasks, last night; run, run, run; it seems before we knew it the time had gotten to 9:20PM and we had 2 little girls with chlorine hair! rush to the tub!
this am, miss my morning run by oversleeping, get everything loaded up, get to work with a pile of shit waiting here already, and people lined up with issues, many of them not of my doing, then a co worker ready for me to a a ride along to pick up some tooling, we get stopped by Pflugerville PD on the way & ticketed! back here another line of problems, an e mail from a friend telling me how she has no time anymore, AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!
now I see if I keep blogging I may miss my chance to eat lunch!!!

gotta go.....
Love long, love well....

Beach

man I wish I was there, I was thinking this AM as I was driving that it would be so cool to be hangin' by the waves, but then I'm not sure I want to rob savings to afford the fuel.
I'm getting pretty excited, it's almost football season, my poor wife really needs a room to herself, if it's not motors revving then it will be "hut hut"! now I put her to sleep watcing golf, speaking of that; way to go Paula Creamer this past weekend, she shot a 60 one round!

Ok, back to the grind.... foots holding up pretty good, did 2.5 last night, hopefully 8/31/08 will be on track, the NIKE run for me, great cause.....

Live smart,
Rodney

PS- Sizzin 7 hero cards coming soon, got the draft from Deb Williams this morning, car's pretty, driver? well..... not so much, but hey, the CARS R the STARS!!!!

Monday, July 14, 2008

Saturday Night Fever

well, we pulled out a heat race @ THR Saturday night, Duane Toyne is the ultimate racer in my opinion; he sure raced us hard and too clean en route to that win, I really like that dude!
in the main we led, but lost the handle about 1/2 way through, still got 6th but need to work on set up & brakes, looking forward to the 28th, I think we will make that show.
Wanna hear some shit, after 4 weeks of rehab on my damaged left foot, I hit the pavement Sunday afternoon for a 2 mile training run, along the way, 2 cars with some punk kids threw water ballons @ me! I hate to admit but I stopped & picked up 2 nice size rocks HOPING they would come back and try to hit me, I cannot stand the lack of respect young people show these days. Growing up (and still) I was a hellraiser but I completly respect elders, young people today lack that, yesterday I really thought a couple of ass-whoopings would solve the issue. They lucked out and never came back. I'm not a tyrant, but this really irritates me, my Dad raised me way too well to understand why kids act that way.
OK, off my soapbox, hope everyone has a great week!

Live hard, be smooth:

READY 4 A WEEKEND

I shot a 113 @ Star Ranch last night, not very impressive BUT I sure see some improvement in my game, I guess I'll keep on but not quite ready to buy a 400.00 set of stix! We sure are looking forward to getting back on the track tomorrow night @ THR in Kyle, We've been off over a month, the joy of a limited schedule! But I am eager to get out and play with the rest of the boys (and girl) of the ASA A Line Auto Super Stocks. I hope to get a few of the "sexy sizzlers" out to watch, it sure helps me to know there are some folks out there to cheer us on, My Dad Ben & Uncle Martin Tello sure do put a great car out there for us to compete with, hopefully our pretty good 08 continues, our Chevy Camaro sure has been good this year.
Tracy & I are free tonight, funny though when our girls are gone it sure is quiet, I miss them when they aren't there.
I hope everyone has a great weekend, check back in for what I really thought about THR on Sunday!
PS-if you want to be a "sexy sizzler" just show up, you can be a dude, find my hot wife & sit with her, like Mack Brown says; "come early, be loud, stay late, wear HUGGAR orange with pride!

Be safe & hug someone you love,

Texas Heat

well, I'm in a pickle, I have a round of golf today, expected high temp, 97 degrees.
THR Saturday, expected high 100 degrees. BUT, these are my hobbies, I don't have to do them, if I weren't doing these deals, I'd be out on a 5 mile run, I guess I just thrive on this now, that's good otherwise I'd be home on my ass!!!
#14, Tony Stewart, #20, someone else; man I have to let that sink in, altho I've almost forgotten Dale Jr. used to be another #!!!!
Did anyone hear Jesse Jackson? man there have been times one of my kids says something in public and I want the floor to swallow me up but what was that dude thinking????? Geez louise, that's downright assenine...
But oh well, another day..

Lots to do P&L,
Rodney

RAIN/REFLECTING ON RACING

well we finally got some yesterday, which is good beacause my water bill is getting crazy trying to revive my lawn. it looks like the sizzlin 7 will reappear for sure this weekend @ THR, should be exciting, its tough to race these days but the sad deal is that the track needs as many people there as possible, in the pits and in the seats. this economy is so jacked up that racing suffers really bad, bad thing is many say this was a make or break year for our local track.
I grew up at austin speed o rama southeast of austin, that place always seemed to have full pits and stands as well, all buying plenty of beer & nachos, times have changed, its just not affordable anymore. my semi-comeback this year has been fun, we had a goal to win a heat race by the end of the year, we did that the second night the car was on the track, the super stock class is very competitive, in my opinion, the most exciting around here; I said that even when i was retired.
it's really cool to race with most of those guys and gals out there.
but looking back, the landscape of local racing around here has changed, its very odd for me to keep up with scene around here and not have san antonio speedway in the mix. my dad raced there and we made that haul many times in my early years, people laugh at me because i didn't see many movies in the 80's-90's, if there would have been portable dvd's back then i would have, that 95 mile trip one way to southeast bexar county would have kept me on track, no bitchin' here though, all those memories of sas/hwy 16 outweigh any movies in my mind. i miss that old place...
i have nascar thoughts, i'll save that for later....

peace & love to all,
Rodney

i'll keep it short, here we go again. we need a better way to go green, white, checkard.
My golf game still sucks.

HAPPY 4TH!!!!!!!!

I slept in today, no kids @ home, AC cranked way down..... it felt great. After going to the Y yesterday and logging 4 miles and sitting in the sauna for 1/2 an hour, apparently I was pooped!
Then we came home and layed around all day, makes me glad that I will never be able to afford to retire, I'm not used to lounging so much.. unless it involves Young and the Restless
Today is such a cool day, this is one holiday I truly love, a real reason to celebrate, your country, doesn't get much better. Seems like most other holidays; halloween even XMAS are so commercialized! I like today & Thanksgiving, too bad there's not NFL on today. But I did see Busch (thats 1.00) and Cup qualifing. The Busch (2.00) guys is pretty new, young dude, can't remember his name, Paul Menard on the Cup side, the race tonight is going to be bad ass I have a feeling.
Mark Martin, with my boys @ Hendrick in 09, with Jr & Mark all the haters are going to HAVE to root the good guys on, like I have always said, can't hate a couple of racers for being able to speak well & not us the word "uh" all the time, he'll fit in perfect, even qualified 2nd for tomorrow. DEI working hard, apparently too hard, Martin Truex I guarantee you will leave now to partner with Smoke @ Haas CNC after that nonsense yesterday, pretty bad when they take your car away. He has too much talent to waste with Teresa, now he'll miss the Chase for sure..
I have to go, going to a fireworks show, during a drought, wait, I asked that the other day!!
Hittin' the links for 18 tomorrow w/ a couple of cool dudes, should be a blast!

Be safe & pray hard!

LONG WEEKEND

well, its finally upon us, I have been waiting since the Tuesday after Memorial Day for this happy day! a celebration of the good ol' USA! a good time to grab some r&r, have a cool one, hit the links and watch some NASCAR.
let's hope we get some rain, that would be the cappa!
It would be nice to travel, but man I can't afford to pay for fuel, anyway, I won't go off on that soapbox, does no good to bitch about it..
I realized something last night, I apparently cannot put a sentence together without one of 2 words, "dude" or "man". I called AT&T to order a replacement modem for home, the dude (see that) on the other end of the line was completly entertained with my choice of words, at one point upon the conclusion of our conversation, it went like this:

ATT guy- "Have I taken care of your issue, and are you satisfied with our service"??
M.E.- "you got it DUDE, all good my MAN" (apparently these were used often, my lovely wife affirmed I use them often, even speaking to her)
you would think he was watching Anchor Man from his response! glad to entertain you dude!
maybe I'll get a credit on my next bill....
so, I guess I overuse those words, but oh well, what to do what to do...

alright, time to start the day, be safe and happy as always if you see a veteran, shake their hand, they put their ass on the line for us...

slap in the face

I was really pissed off this morning with my work; I mean really pissed! One of these deals where you are so mad that you cannot see straight and all the colors look black and white.
Then I get a message from a good friend who is going through a rough time, some stuff just doesn't make sense.
But to me, thanks to him, I realized really quick that these small insignificant daily BS things matter not, especially when the things that do count, family, friends are all in tact.

I'm not so pissed anymore, the day seems brighter now, even though the professional stuff has not been corrected...... it's all good.

GAS PRICES/NASCAR- BOTH BIG $

last night I sent to get fuel, I usually say fill up but lately I go buy fuel. for 65.00 I got my truck close to the "F" on the gas gauge. if anyone can tell me a way to get from round rock to north austin on a bike by avaiding 35 and arrivng safely please reply, this is murder!!!
looking to see about fireworx in for for the 4th, although if there is a burn ban, how in the hell are people having fireworx displays.
I can't wait for the Coke 400 @ Daytona Saturday night, I'm a racer but when these deep pocket people tear one of their 20cars up, I love it!!!!! Let me go on record, Jaime McMurray will not repeat this year......... I'm betting a long shot though, for some reason Casey Mears keeps popping into my mind, my man Bobby LaBonte too. Terry, you are my man, but please get out of that 45!
regardless, the coolies will be happenin' on my deck for this event, should be a blast, other than having to listen to the TNT crew, except for Lindsay Czarniak, she's the exception.
Enough of all of this, go forward and straight ahead!

P&L,
Rodney

MONDAY!!!!!!

you have to hate Monday's! I took the weekend to make my first gentle attempts @ using my damaged foot/ankle. funny you never know how 26 miles can jack you up..... but, gently I think I'm healing, thank God for gym equipment, makes mending easier.
My golf game needs work, Friday was aweful!
Look for the Sizzlin 7 back @ THR on the 12th.
I like the rain, supposed to get more this evening, makes for good sleepin'.....

I'm on the run,

CRAZY

ever feel like you can't accomplish anything? that sucks, that's my deal today....
overwhelmed is the word of the day, fortunatly today is Friday for me. my race team is working to possibly make an appearence at Thunderhill Raceway Saturday; but upon my return to the track I vowed to keep the car racing fun and if a race date came up and we not quite ready, we would skip it, I've done that once this year and may do it again this Saturday.
My house looks like a new one to me, we had some cabs refinished, the man is a craftsman, I had to double check this morning to make sure I was in the right house, transformation is like something you see on TLC.
I may go check out my "hometeam" tonight, the Round Rock Express, my sweetie has a ladies night happenin'.... the kids are gone too....
Got to get back to the grind.... duty calls!!
