oh how many times did I here that growing up, countless times, watching with my family, growing up and all through life there have been me and the Dallas Cowboys and Texas Stadium.
I saw a motocross there before I ever saw a game, I remember Kerry Von Erich beat Ric Flair there in 1983, but weekend after weekend there it was; finally in 2006 I got to go!
Now the place will host it's last game tomorrow and me and my buddy will be there! My wife is the best lady in the world! We'd missed it otherwise but she said I should go, this is going to be so cool yet sad. I heard safety Keith Davis this AM, his voice is already quivering, he grew up there in the Dallas area, and he'll play for Dallas in that last game. Think about all the big games, all the players, the history; even the TV show opened with a shot of the hole in the roof.....
we will have fun, we will do it up and soak it all in, we have both been DC fans for sooo long, but when we walk out and look at it again, it will be like losing a lifelong friend. Sad thing is, Sunday morning on the way out, we'll have to drive by the old lady one more time, no fanfare, no noise, just her sitting there silent...... I guess that will be the way to remember her.
Goodbye old friend, thanks for staying with me all these years, I promise, it won't be the same without you!!
